Always wondered if we were,
Heading off in the same direction,
Are we hand in hand,
Or am I alone, in rejection ?
Need to find a way out,
But haven’t got a map for inspection.
Though the route may seem difficult and narrow,
Our load seems much lighter, though my boots become tighter.
Whenever we hear the birdsong of a sparrow,
If you set off, I will follow …
Where will we end up, tomorrow ?
Do you know where you are heading ?
Or as you just as lost on the way to Reading ?
Chorus
Walking on the same path as you,
Sometimes steep, sometimes flat.
Walking the same path as you,
Sometimes jogging and racing, too.
On the path, I much prefer it when we chat,
I guess that life’s a bit like that …
Just like a cobweb, that weaves in and out,
Sometimes life takes us the wrong way round a roundabout.
Our paths cross, every now and then,
Don’t see you for a while,
Then we meet up again.
Walking the same path as you, I’m a little in your shadow,
Though the Sun still shines through, the sky remains blue.
Really, want to be by your side, and sit a while,
Not be travelling down the wrong road, for a mile.
The road is winding and sometimes stoney,
Often, whilst traversing, I feel a little lonely.
Chorus
But, thankfully, you come to guide me, show me the way,
We stop for a drink, and then soon we’re away.
Walking on the same path as you,
Is really quite a privilege, when we share a laugh or two.
Sometimes, I feel in rather a muddle,
If there’s a rain shower, I step in a puddle,
But walking on the same path as you, can hardly feel the rain at all,
In the distance, there’s a rainbow, and snowdrops by the side, white and
small.
Step after step, we headed up and downhill,
Our feet, needless to say, become sore,
But I can hardly tell, when I’m with you.
Though, I sometimes need to rest,
I’m quickly back on the same road as you, heading West.
