Honey, I guess the postman is ya’ friend,

Because he keeps on appearin’ at my door,

Whenever ya’ want our romance to end.

Parks his van at the end of my street,

Then - I hear the tap of his hobnail boot feet …

Chorus

Signed, sealed, our poison love is revealed,

Had a broken - hearted, which only you healed.

When ya’ knew everything wasn’t goin’ so right,

Couldn’t you just ring me to tell me last night ?

Decided to put it in a letter instead,

Tellin’ me, darlin’, there was no more room in ya’ bed.

“I’ve gotta nother gal”, ya’ said,

“Now I no longer want to be wed”.

Chorus

Honey, don’t think that it’s my tears,

It’s just that I’ve not been in love for years,

The ink on the envelope has run again,

But it’s just a spot of rain,

And a letter written in chain.

Chorus
