Excelsior (Still Higher) Love

* introduction – In Latin “excelsior” means “even higher”, which is where love takes us …

I climbed to the highest mountain,

Just so all the world could hear,

“Excelsior” was the name on my lips,

It means “still higher”,

Even higher than one of my mountain trips.

Chorus

Higher and higher,

Our love knows no bounds,

A thousand feet above the ground.

Higher and higher, till my head’s in a spin,

With excelsior, I can only win.

I bought a ticket for an aeroplane,

Just so “excelsior” I could cry out loud again,

My excelsior love wasn’t even stopped by the rain,

Although the plane flew through the clouds above,

It still didn’t fly high enough for my excelsior love.

Chorus

Even trip a tightrope walk on a wire,

Just so I could cry “excelsior” even higher,

Took a ride in a hot air balloon,

As I headed further and further towards the Moon.

My excelsior love inflated quite soon.

Chorus

Bought a kite, in the hope that it might,

Send my “excelsior” love even higher,

And make the Sun shine more bright.

Higher and higher … my excelsior high flier,

Shout our loud, like a noisy town cryer … (repeat to fade).
