Weary Of A War Of Words

May be, there’s a war of the worlds,

But in our house, it’s a war of words …

Some of the nasty things that you say,

Break my heart, and won’t go away.

Honey, I’m weary, the life I lead is dreary,

All I want is for you to love me dearly,

Can’t you do anything, so we understand each other more clearly ?

Want to be called anything but a slut,

Don’t want to get shouted down,

About where the toothpaste has been put,

Really just want a peaceful life,

With a harmonious home and a loving wife.

Our battle has gone on so long,

I’m battle – weary, not feelin’ that strong,

Searchin’ for a place to belong,

With a husband who doesn’t shout,

When I get things wrong.

You must have read a very wide book or two,

To use and know words like you do,

Need to train to be a love soldier,

Because I want you to use words like “hold her”.

(repeat to fade).
